Create an animated 2D asset

This workflow produces an animated sprite or object that can be used in a Godot 2D scene.

1. Create the context

  1. Select New asset.
  2. Choose project mode 2D and the appropriate asset type.
  3. Keep the new asset selected during the complete workflow.

2. Define the asset

Use Game Design Studio to define the subject, camera angle, style, palette, dimensions and animation states. Save the approved description in the project documentation. Stop the assistant before loading an image model.

3. Create the source art

  1. Start ComfyUI + FLUX.
  2. Generate the neutral or key pose at the intended camera angle.
  3. Prefer a clean silhouette and a plain or transparent-ready background.
  4. Generate the additional states or frames while keeping proportions, palette and viewpoint consistent.
  5. Save the approved images, then stop ComfyUI.

For a character, plan states such as idle, walk, attack, hit and death. An object may need idle, active, damaged and destroyed states.

4. Prepare animation frames

Remove unwanted background pixels, align the pivot across frames and keep a consistent canvas size. Arrange frames as individual PNG files or a sprite sheet. Register the approved source in Artifacts when required by the current build.

5. Build the animation in Godot

  1. Open Godot 2D from the selected asset.
  2. Import the PNG sequence or sprite sheet.
  3. Create a Sprite2D or AnimatedSprite2D node.
  4. Define each animation and its frame rate.
  5. Set the pivot, filtering and loop behavior.
  6. Add collision shapes in Godot according to gameplay needs.

6. Validate

Run the scene and check the animation at game scale. Confirm that the silhouette does not jump, frames do not bleed, collision follows the visible body and the animation returns cleanly to its start or next state.

Note

Generation of consistent multi-frame animation is still partly manual in the preview. Arke Forge coordinates the tools and files, while the operator approves alignment, cleanup and Godot animation setup.
